Hi, I’m Hershey!
I was born around the end of October, 2019. I’m part of the Candy litter, along with my sisters Reese’s and Twix. We are Dobermann/husky mixes, as you may guess by my unique coloring and blue eye. I’m probably about 50 lbs and still growing. We had a rough start in life- we hadn’t been touched by a human during our puppy socialization period, and then after we were brought to a shelter in Kentucky we ended up getting parvo. With vet care and proper nutrition, we have become strong and healthy! We are looking for a patient, dog savvy adopter who is willing to help us learn that the world isn’t such a scary place. We will also need a home with a fenced yard. We would probably benefit from a friendly, confident dog to help us learn to trust humans. We would will also need a house with no young children, as we can get scared if we feel trapped by a human. We need slow repetitions on a daily basis using positive reinforcement to help us learn new things. We love other dogs and we live with two cats, but we do tend to bark at the cats sometimes. We are still working on housebreaking but improving. I am still working on making friends with humans but I will now let my foster parents touch my neck or chest. I am a goofy playful boy and I love playing with my sister, Twix. I am starting to learn how to get my harness on and walk on a leash in quiet environments. I’m pretty smart and quickly learned how to do sit, down, touch, and watch me. We make small gains every day, and the right person will find my progress rewarding.
